At Hazara Lodge we understand, and are reminded through our craft daily, of the importance of charity and care for those in our communities and society-at-large who are less fortunate than ourselves. It is in this spirit of charitable endeavour, Hazara Lodge would like to showcase an incredibly important and life-changing charity – Bikers Against Child Abuse.
Bikers Against Child Abuse – A Short History
Founded in the United States of America originally, Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) is a global charity network with charitable status approved in the US, many countries worldwide and the United Kingdom.
BACA stands for a simple ethos:
“Bikers Against Child Abuse, Inc. (B.A.C.A.) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live.
We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organisation. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children.
We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organisation, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse.”
Why Hazara Are Working With With Bikers Against Child Abuse?
The facts on child abuse incidence in the United Kingdom are staggering. This is the case even when one considers the brutal reality that child safety charities and public bodies cannot articulate exact figures on child abuse in the UK. If we take the NSPCC, we can highlight a snapshot of abuse that is plaguing the UK:
According to the NSPCC, one in 20 children have been subject to sexual abuse. One in 10 children have experienced neglect. One in 14 children have experienced physical abuse. If we place these statistics alongside the reality that hundreds of thousands of children in the UK face the possibility of a future of abuse. You can understand why Hazara Lodge have partnered with Bikers Against Child Abuse, as a charitable collaboration.
Bikers Against Child Abuse has a simple ethos – no child deserves to live in fear. BACA ‘chapters’ work in collective terms to help victims by providing extended support networks.
This support allows victims to get access to support in a range of different ways, from physical security needs during emotive court cases to emotional support needs to help victims find their voices and their own confidence to overcome their challenging experiences.
